quences which might follow a further incident
such as the attack on the “ Blosse Lynch”. It
was reasonable to expect that such a warn
ing would have more effect in the present cir
cumstances than it would have had a short
time ago.
196. His Majesty’s Ambassador at
Constantinople has been asked by the Turkish
English Engineers for Ministry of 1 ublic
irrigation works in the Works whether there
Vilayet of Adana. are anv English
Engineers having experience of irrigation
work in Egypt, &c., who would be willing, if
required, to take service under the Ottoman
Government in connection with the important
works of irrigation already decided upon in
the Vilayet of Adana.
The Political Besident has reported that
it is officially stated at Baghdad that Sir
William Willcocks has been engaged to advise
the Turkish Government on matters connected
with irrigation, and t .at he will start for
Baghdad at an early date.
