The file contains correspondence and papers concerning expenditure on diplomatic and consular services in Iran and the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. from 1936 to 1940.

It includes correspondence between the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. and the following: the Foreign Office; the Treasury; the Government of India, External Affairs Department; and the Governor General of India. It also includes: statements comparing the expenditure incurred by the Government of India on diplomatic and consular services in Iran for a particular year with that of the previous year, for the years 1936 to 1939; and statements of expenditure incurred on the Koweit [Kuwait] Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. during the years 1936 to 1940.
