Letter from Francis Warden, Chief Secretary to the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. to Lieutenant William Bruce, Resident at Bushire, on the predatory assaults of Joasimese [Qasimi] pirates, in violation of their assurances to the British government.
In enclosure, letter from C W Elwood, Agent to Government at Poorbunder to Francis Warden,dated 11 November 1813, informing that a Poorbunder [Porbandar, India] merchant boat sailing to Muscat fell in with a Joasimese Pirate on 1 November on the Coast of Muscat, and the pirate escaped throwing overboard the greater part of the cargo.
