Letter from Francis Warden, Chief Secretary to the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. to Lieutenant William Bruce, Resident at Bushire, acknowledging the receipt of the letter sent on 4 June 1813, congratulating Bruce on the recovery of the debt due by Ahmed Iben Seyf to William Smith. The letter mentions the discussion on the renewal of the 1806 treaty against piracy and maritime protection granted to British vessels in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .
