With reference to India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. letter No.
P.Z. 4054/32 of July 13th, 1932, regarding the Office
Allowance at His Majesty’s Consulate at Kermanshah,
I am directed by Secretary Sir John Simon to state
that with the sanction of His Majesty’s Treasury and
subject to review in the event of a material fall in
the cost of living at that place measured in local
currency an office allowance of 43,785 rials per annum
has been assigned to His Majesty’s Consul at
Kermanshah, providing for an increase in the bonus of
the clerk and the munshi A term used in the Middle East, Persia and South Asia to refer to a secretary, assistant or amanuensis. Munshis were employed in the British administration in the Gulf. to 3Q$•
2. I am to request that Secretary Sir Samuel
Hoare may be moved to accept a moiety of the above
mentioned Office Allowance as a charge against Indian
Revenues.
