Vith reference to India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. letter P # Z.592/32
of February 15th last regarding the temporary increase
in the wages of the clerical and subordinate staff at
His Majesty’s Consulate General at Isfahan I am directed
by Secretary Sir John Simon to transmit herewith y to be
laid before the Secret try of State for India^copy of a
despatch from His Majesty’s Consul General at that post
with which is enclosed a comparative statement of local
prices. his Majesty’s Treasury have been ashed to agree
to the continued payment for one year of the existing
scale of salaries and Sir John Simon trusts that Sir S. Hoare
will concur in this proposal and will agree to accept a
moiety of the expenditure involved as a charge on Indian
revenues.
