Sir,
With reference to your despatch No. 5 of the 1st
September last, on the subject of an increased allowance
to the clerical and subordinate staff at this Consulate
General, I have the honour to report that at present the
cost of living in this town shows no signs of diminishing
and therefore I sincerely hope you will be able to continue
to sanction the extra allowance granted in your despatch
under reply for the present year.
