The map shows the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. and adjacent countries including regions of Arabia, the Turkish Empire, Persia, Russian Turkistan [Turkestan], Afghanistan, and Baluchistan. It was originally created by the War Office, June 1908, with additions made in April 1911, and is found in the volume 'Report and Proceedings of the Standing Sub-Committee of the Committee of Imperial Defence on the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. ', 1911.

It indicates: lakes, rivers, wells, springs, pools, district names, hills, telegraphs, railways, international boundaries, and zones defined by the Anglo-Russian Convention of 31 August 1907.

The map includes a printing statement as follows: 'Topographical Section, General Staff, No. 2385'.
