2. I forward the following two statements:-
Statement "A” showing the Capital cost of Government
buildings in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. and the
expenditure incurred during the past ten
years on account of petty, ordinary and
special repairs on each.
Statement "B" shov/ing the increased allowances that
would be necessary if the percentage rates
for ordinary and special repairs were
raised to 2-J % and respectively.
With the exception of Bahrein the existing allotments for
petty and ordinary repairs seem sufficiently adequate for
the present and having regard to the present financial
crisis I do not propose to apply fox’ increased Budget *
provision.
3. An increase in the allotment for ordinary repairs to
the Bahrein Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. is, however, essential, and with regard
to this I am addressing the Government of India separately.
