Navy in the Gulf may he summarised as followsj-
(1) To maintain our position in the Gulf generally
and prevent any foreign country from having an t '
convincing reason for attempting to obtain a
footing in the Gulf*
(2) To uphold our special position vis-a-vis the
sheikhs of Kcweit, Muscat, Bahrein and of the
Trueini Coasto
