jurisdiction in the territories of His Li hness
the Sultan of Muscat and Oman and Dependencies
under the Grder-in-Council dated the
as from the date of the coming into force of the
said Order-in-Council, in the following matters
arising in the said territories of His Highness,
to wit
(i) All criminal charges against a national of
the Union of South Africa
(ii, all civil suits in which nationals of the
Union of South Africa are defendants;
(iii) all bankruptcy cases in which the bankrupt
or the person ,horn it is sought to make
bankrupt is a Union national;
(ivj all proceedings connected with administration
oi the estate of a deceased Union national,
and all Questions of personal status where the
person whose status is in question is a Union
national, always provided that where such
person is a Moslem the consular authorities
may remit the case for decision by a Moslem
religious court of the Sultan on such
conditions as they may determine and shall
so remit the case if any other party to the
proceedings is a national of the Sultan.
In all criminal and civil cases in which a Union
National is complainant or plaintiff and the
accused or defendant is a national of the Sultan
or a national of a third country, which shall be
tiieo. Dy the Courts of the Sultan, a national of
the Union shall have a right of appeal, in
accordance with the procedure prescribed in the
Omani Courts, to the Sultan, or, if he so desires
in the absence of the Sultan, to the Sultan’s
representative, against any decision given against
