Dear Gibson,
Muscat Treaty .
We are writing officially in reply to the India
Office letter of the 18th October, and concurring in the
oroposal to sign the treaty in the fonn ol the present draft,
subject to a tentative suggestion in regard to the wording
of Article 7. I am sorry not to have noticed the point when
you consulted us semi-officially in August, but, it it is
inconvenient to make an alteration now, no harm will be done.
We assume that, before the draft is prepared for
signature, punctuation will be checked. We noticed a few
places where commas seem to have dropped out, and, in
Article 20 (l), which concerns the Dominions Office, "his”
before "Consular Officer" is spelt v/ith a small "h", whilst
in Article 5 (c), before "Naval Forces", it is spelt with a
capital "H" . There is also a small "h" in Article 19(1).
"Nationals" and "Treaty" are other words which sometimes hare
a capital and sometimes not.
