With reference to your official
letter of the 17th March last,
No.K.3426/3426/234, about the office
allowance of H.M. Vice-Consul at
Bushire, I enclose a copy of a
letter from the Government of India.
It will be seen from the Note
by the Accountant-General, Central
Revenues, that he presumes that the
audit of this allowance will continue
to be conducted at Home, as heretofore.
We are not sure whether this was the
intention of the Foreign Office when
making the proposal, but it seems to
us that it would wake* considerably Cor

the audit were conducted in India.
Would you kindly let me have your
views on this suggestion?
We assume that, in any case, it
was intended that the Government of

India should be left to jmuc^ the ^

should arise, subject to the ordinary^
