procedure was contemplated, in order that they might be
prepared to consider the sum quoted at short notice.

by Mr. Rendel, he stated that in his opinion the actual

would take about three years. Mr. Rendel emphasised again
that for political reasons which were known to everybody
concerned the Foreign Office held that it was advisable to
shorten the period of transfer as r,uch as Possible. The
