I am directed to report for the information of
His Majesty's Secretary of State for India th e t on the
recommendation of the Hon'ble the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in
the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , the Governor General in Council in
exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 14 and 35
of the Bahrain Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. , 1913, by Sections 12
and 37 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, (Act V of
1898), and‘by Sections 22, 22A, 24 and 28 of the Bombay
Civil Courts Act, 1869. (Act 111 of 1869), as applied to
Bahrain by the said Order, has appointed Mr. Mohd. Abdul
Hafiz, officiating Indian Assistant to the Political
Agent, Bahrain, to be a Magistrate’of th* second class
and a Subordinate Judge of the second class. He has also
been invested with the jurisdiction of, a Court of
Subordinate judge of the second class and a Court of Small
Causes for the £rx±s± trial of suits cognizable by such
courts up to the amount of two hundred rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. .
2. As in such cases it is necessary to obtain the
assent of His Majesty's Secretary of State for India in
order to satisfy the requirements of Articles 14 and 35
of the Bahrain Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. , 1913, I am to request -
that His Male sty’s Secretary of State fo** Indie may be
moved kindly to confirm the action taken by the Governor
General in Council in the present case.
