17th March, I have to transmit herewith a copy of a
telegram addressed to the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. by the
Government of India on the subject of consular
representation in India and Persia.
2. It will be observed that the Government of
India take no account of the fact that His
Majesty’s consular officers in Persia represent
the interests of India as well as those of the
United Kingdom. It nevertheless does not
appear that any useful purpose would be served
by pursuing the question of consular representation
in Persia at the present moment. in this
connexion please see paragraphs 3 and 4 of
