to Dizful, the road passing between the Ab-i-Dizful and Karun. Pasture
and firewood are plentiful; there are no villages along it; the tents of the
Bakhtiari iliyats are frequently met with; sport, such as wild goat and
wild boar, &c., is plentiful.
This road is used by the Lurs in preference to that leading from the
head of the Akhora valley. It was said to be closed for 3 months by snow,
which lies deep on the Khaonah and Monar hills; at other times, by waiting
till a fall melts, they can be passed. Provisions, as before noted {page 266),
can be obtained from the iliyats, who sow and reap.
So far as it could he checked, the above account was found to he fairly reli
able, hut to be altogether an iligdt path and more across country than the road
described from Deh-Kurd on page 279.

Report marked strictly confidential, prepared in the Intelligence Branch of the Quarter Master General’s Department in India, by the Assistant Quarter Master General, Major and Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel Mark Sever Bell, Royal Engineers. The volume was published by the Government Central Branch Press, Simla, 1885.
