attempts at road-making are the results of the energy of the Ihtisham-ul-Daulat, who ruled
the tribes from Behbahan in the years 1877 to 1880. Easy places have been made easier
but the leal dimculties of the road have been left untouched (sec above).

passable, even to mules ; it winds considerably, and many of its steps are 2' to 3' hHi • it is
narrrow ; in places the rock is sharp ; in others it is as slippery as glass from the mssa^e of

Report marked strictly confidential, prepared in the Intelligence Branch of the Quarter Master General’s Department in India, by the Assistant Quarter Master General, Major and Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel Mark Sever Bell, Royal Engineers. The volume was published by the Government Central Branch Press, Simla, 1885.
