This bundle consists of summaries of official secret letters received from Sir James Outram (in command of the British army in the Anglo-Persian War), addressed from Outram to the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. , dated 9 March 1857, and to Lord Clarendon (George William Frederick Villiers, British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs), dated 28 March, 3 April, and 5 April 1857.
The summary of the letter to the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. concerns written engagements with certain Arab tribes. The summaries of letters to Lord Clarendon mostly concern the claim of the Turkish Government with respect to Mohammerah (Mohammera) [Khorramshahr], the capture of Mohammera on 26 March 1857, and the Peace Treaty between Great Britain and Persia.
