These folios consist of summaries of letters from HM Minister to Persia, Charles Augustus Murray (4 July, Numbers 54-55, and 6 July, Number 56) sent from Hamadan, Persia [Iran], reporting news from Persia, including: the official announcement of the disgrace of Azeez Khan, the Commander in Chief, and the Sedr Ajeem being invested with the sole command of the Army; the quarrel between Sultan Ahmed Khan, who had been sent from Teheran [Tehran] as Governor of Herat, and Sultan Morad Meerza, Commander in Chief of the Persian Army there; the marriage of the Shah of Persia with the mother of his eldest son, the Ameer-i-Nizam, and serious consequences which may arise as a result of this; and Murray’s conviction that the Persians had no intention of evacuating Herat.
