not to hand over their affairs to one of the very
community that has compassed their downfall.
11. The Bunniahs state that six months will be
required to clear up the situation.
This appears to me to be an excessive demand
but if approval is granted to the principle perhaps it
may be possible to leave the settlement of the actual
period in the hands of the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Bahrain,
and the .uair of Qatif. In this connection I venture
to invite the Political Resident’s attention to the
recommendation in paragraph 6 of my No .^#
dated li+th December 1927*

trading with Qatif for hundreds of years though they
admit temporary interruptions.

The majority of the correspondence in the file is between British officials, but it also contains a limited amount of letters that were exchanged between British diplomatic staff in Jeddah and the King of Saudi Arabia, Ibn Sa'ud [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd] and one of his closest advisors, Yusuf Yassin.
