About this item

Content

This file contains papers relating to the negotiations on oil exploration and extraction agreements between the ruler of Kuwait and the British Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Kuwait. The majority of the papers discuss the controversy surrounding the competition between the Anglo Persian Oil Company and the Eastern and General Syndicate for oil contracts in the territory of Kuwait. Arabic documents are either correspondence between the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. in Kuwait and the Ruler of Kuwait or translations of agreements relating to oil concessions in Kuwait.
