V
Conerai Situation# I have the honour to report that except
for a demonstration held some days ago by the women
relatives of certain deportees nothing of note hae occurred.
These women came from Abadan to Mohamraerah where they
assembled at the telegraph office and despatched a telegram
to the shah after which they proceeded to the Chau's
statu© where they prayed and wept. Twelve of the principal
demonstrators were arrested. In this connection a wealthy
Iraqi contractor, hoi Jen Mehdi by name was also arrested
and deported to Iraq without trial but there is reason
to believe that his arrest was really due to private
enmity between himself and the Persian Chief of police at
Abadan.
There have been various rumours of impending
trouble planned for today, the 40th day of Moharram when
it is said processions will be taken out in the streets.
The troops are taking all precautions, and so far nothin*-
has occurred.
On June Both Mirza Jalal went to Bushire to visit
Muvaqqar who arrived there by aeroplane from Tehran on
June 12th. The Govern or of liohammerah appears to think
that Muvaqqar may be removed from the Mejiis and in any
event
