Translation of a letter dated the 8th Habi Awwal
1356, corresponding to the 19th May 1937, from His Highness
the Sultan of Muscat & Omn, Muscat to the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency.

After compliments,
We have informed you verbally that the Wall of
Sohar has reported to us that one of the Shai&is of Abu
Dhabi named Sultan bin Zayid arrived in the territory of
Buraimi accompanied by three or four Englishmen represent
ing a certain Oil Company, with a view to mahing a research
of the said territory* As you are aware Buraimi is within/
the boundaries of Oman, and the Shaikhs of Abu Dhabi have
no right to interfere. We would therefore request th*t
you will maJce verification into the matter through the

such a question is likely to cause some misunderstanding
