There are some Chinese nationals who have been ^
stranded in Mecca for a year and who are now destitute. They
have appealed to me for assistance as there is no Chinese
representative in this country. They ask to be supplied with
m^ney for subsistence and to be repatriated to China via
India.
There will be ideal opportunity in the near future
for them to travel to India with some destitute Indians
j who are being repatriated.
I consider it would be of good propaganda value to
us and a courteous gesture towards the Chinese Government
if I could be authorised to assist these people. Their
numbers are small, probably not more than twelve.
Will the Government of India and Cairo plea.se inform
the Chinese representatives ?
