has had his or her usual place of abode within the district of any
Marriage Registrar.”
(d) Add to the fourth paragraph of Section 51 the following proviso—
“ provided that, in the ease of parties neither of whom dwells,
or has dwelt, within the district of any Marriage Registrar, the
Marriage Registrar in whose presence the marriage shall be
solemnised shall be the Marriage Registrar to whom the notice
under Section 38 was given.”
2. This Regulation may be cited as “ The Christian ]\^-iage
(Amendment) Regulation, 1948.’

Correspondence, drafts, and minute papers relating to the drafting and issue of amendments to The Christian Marriage Regulation, 1922, made under the Bahrain Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. , 1913. Amendments to the regulation were thought necessary in order to authorise the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Bahrain, to marry non-British subjects (The Christian Marriage (Amendment) Regulation, 1946) and those who were resident in Saudi Arabia (The Christian Marriage (Amendment) Regulation, 1948). Discussion of the need for and wording of the amendments occur in exchanges between officials at the India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947.
