I have the honour to refer to your endorsement
No. c/ 233 9 dated the 3rd September, 1945, and preceding
correspondence on the subject noted above.
2# On the 4th of October, 1945, the Sharq El Adna
(Jaffa) Arabic Broadcast stated that "According to the
Beirut Press, it is most probable that the Arab Kings
and Amirs will hold a meeting in Bahrain following the •
pilgrimage season". My enquiry from the Acting Adviser
to the Government of Bahrain elicited the reply that he
had no information of any arrangements for such a meeting
and that he would have known of them if they had been
made. He was unable to give me any idea of the source
of these reports - if they have a local source.
3. On the night of the 21st October the same
station broadcast that a meeting of the "representatives"
of Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. States is likely to be held in Bahrain
in order to
(a) formulate plans for a Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran.
Federation which would send a repre
sentative to the Arab League.
(b) consider the economic problem.
(c) concert measures to remove all
passport restrictions between
Gulf States.
B I would request that the Government of
Palestine be addressed and requested to state the
source of these reports.
