April 2nd,
Sir,
I nave trie Honour to transmit herewitn & translation
of a letter which I nave received from tne Saudi Arabian
Government, proposing tnat mails adaressed to Riyadn snould
ue sent via Kuwait instead of, as at present, via Jedda,
and mat the Saudi Government snould provide two cars to run
between Kuwait and Riyadn for this purpose.
The agreement between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to
wnicn reference is made in tne enclosed letucr came into
force in February, 1925. A relevant paper is tne Express
Letter No. D.279G-N/34 dated Simla, August 27tn, 1934,
from Foreign, Simla,, to Britc uisul, Busnire. Tne analogy
is not complete, now^ver, as in tnat case tnere was no
question of tnu diversion of mails from tne noute nitnerto
in use.
I snould be ^rateful if you would kinuly inform me uy
telegram waetner tne Kuwait Government agree to tne proposal
and are ready to put it into effect.
I am sending copies of tnis jetter and of its
enclosures to tne Political A^ent at Kuwait ^No.72o/1182/4), to
tne Government of India (external Affairs Department) (NO. 729/
1152/4) and to hie Majesty’s Principal becr^tary of State
