The file concerns visits to Bahrain by members of the royal family of Saudi Arabia; in particular the visit of Emir Saud [Sa‘ūd bin ‘Abd al-‘Azīz Āl Sa‘ūd], son of Ibn Saud [Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd], in December 1937; and the visit of Ibn Saud himself in March 1939.
The papers include detailed reports on both visits by the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Bahrain (Hugh Weightman): folios 48-55 (1937) and folios 13-21 (1939), with comments by the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran.
