This file relates to a reported act of piracy near Lima [Ra’s Līmā’]. The correspondence describes an incident in which a cargo boat travelling from Karachi was reportedly plundered by a group of armed Baluchi men.

The main correspondents are the following: the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. and Consul, Muscat; the Senior Naval Officer in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. ; the Sultan of Muscat and Oman [Sa‘īd bin Taymūr Āl Bū Sa‘īd].

The Arabic language material consists of several items of correspondence (English translations are included).

The final item in the file is incorrectly dated: the date given is 2 January 1939, when in fact it should be 2 January 1940.
