I am directed by Secretary Sir John Simon to
transmit to you herewith the draft of a circular which
it is proposed with the concurrence of the Secretary
of State for India to issue to His Majesty*s Consular
and Passport Control Officers regarding the endorsement
of British passports for "Arabia" # The wording of the
endorsement: "Saudi Arabia (except Nejd and the interior)",
will make the document valid for travel to El Hasa.
This is, however, the case under the practice at present
in force, since endorsements for the Hejaz or Arabia
are accompanied by the proviso "(except Nejd and the
interior of Arabia)".
2. A similar letter has been addressed to the Colonial
Office.
I am.
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
