The file contains correspondence from the Ministry of Fuel and Power, Petroleum Division; the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. ; and the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Bahrain, concerning a request from the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) to recruit women stenographers in the United Kingdom: ten immediately, and seventy-five over the course of the following one to two years. The demand arose from the construction by the company of a 100 octane plant, and consequent increase in the amount of clerical work required. A telegram from the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. dated 1 June 1945 describes the type of accommodation available for the women.
