(who has just returned from Banana via Jajja Hodeida and
ia r Yemen is quiet and Ahmed’s power securely
established. I have therefore decided that our recognition
s/ioulc re delayed no longer and am submitting for King’s
approval text of a message from His Majesty to Ahmed
congratulating him on his accession and expressing friendly
s e n oinents.
* P ro P° s ® that this message together with one
from nr to Yemeni foreign Minister, siiould be telegraphed
to ^ana’a by Governor of Aden on April 21st. Pleas© ask
State Department if this date would be convenient to them,

are also being informed of our intentions, and wc expect

understand tuat French Government are anxious to recognise
