I have the honour to forward, herewith, the
correspondence noted in the margin.
1. Letter No. C/76 of 28th June 1951 from the
Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Bahrein.
2. Beport of the Bahrein State for 1930 together with
new Budget for 1931 hy Mr. C.B.Bel grave, Financial
Assistant to the Bahrein State. S
2. As was foreshadowed in my letter No.58-T, dated 16th
November, 1930 has been a bad year for Bahrein, and the
year's working showed a deficit which made it necessary to
draw on savings invested in Bombay to the extent of
Bs .1,70,000.
b. It will be noted that the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. (paragraph
2 of his letter) is of opinion that the present budget will
not balance ana that the year will see a further reduction
in the State reserves of at least one lakh One lakh is equal to one hundred thousand rupees . Pith regard to
these forecasts we can only wait and see if they are fulfill
ed. The Financial Assistant is of opinion that the budget
will balance.
The finances of the State would at any rate seem to

be on a fairly sound basis• There is a State Reserve Fund
of Hs.3,00,000 and the balance of savings invested in
Bombay total Rs. 1 ,13,856/0/2.
