decrease in i349 exceeded my estimation hy Bs.2,33,GOG/-.
The reason for this serious falling off in revenue
is not a local one hut has been caused hy the effects
of the present world wide trade depression which parti
cularly affects a luxury trade such as the pearl industry
on which depends not only the prosperity hut almost the
very existence of Bahrain.
I feel confident that when trade conditions improve
in Europe and America there will he a similar improvement
in Bahrain hut until this occurs the revenue of the
Bahrain. State will decrease. The estimated expenditure
in the new budget has been confined to the narrowest
limits consistent with carrying out the hare administra
tion of the State hut in order to obtain the revenue for
doing this it has been necessary to increase the uhanchia
outy hy an amount which is estimated a s being likely to
produce one
