Minute Paper.
political Department.
P. 7575/29 below. The Colonial Office and Foreign
Office concur in the course of action proposed on
that paper, and a draft letter to the Government of
India informing them is submitted.
As regards the substitution of Sudanese for
Indian police in Bahrein, on the expiry in 1931 of the
term of engagement of the present Indian police force,
there is perhaps something to be said for taking
immediate advantage of the Foreigi Office offer to
ascertain from the Sudan Government whether they would
be prepared to agree to recruitment in their
territories, and if necessary to facilitate it.
If they see strong objection, or consider that it
would be impracticable, the scheme will fall to the
ground in any case, and it is as well that the
Government of India should know where they stand.
They will be quite uncommitted by any enquiries that
may be made. A draft to the Foreign Office on these
lines is submitted.
