MUSCAT INTELLIGENCE SUMMARY No.21 FOR THE PERIOD
1st to 15th November, 1946.

330. Captain J.E.H. Hudson, arrived at Muscat on the 15th
in the s.s. •Barjora H and took charge of his post as Assistant
Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Muscat, from the same date.

331. His Highness the Sultan is expected to leave for
Dhofar on the 15th December and is busy in making preparations
for his departure. A number of motor vehicles including two
3 ton lorries have been sent by dhow A term adopted by British officials to refer to local sailing vessels in the western Indian Ocean. to Murbet, from where
they will be driven.to Salalah. The A.I.O.C. are being
asked to arrange for a tanker to transport His Highness and
party to Dhofar.
332. His Highness the Sultan attended the annual sports
of the Muscat Infantry on the 14th.
333* Mr. T.F. Williamson sent by Petroleum Concessions
Limited to conduct an oil survey of the Batineh coast, arrived
at Muscat on the 1st. He travelled overland from Sharjah.
334- On the 5th Id ul Adha was celebrated. Salutes of
guns were fired from the Mirani Fort on the appearance of the
moon on the 4th and again on the morning of the 5th.

336. It is now reported that Gwadur merchants are experiencing
no difficulty in obtaining shipping space for fish manure from
Karachi to Colombo. ' It Is largely on this trade that the
Gwadur community depend and the easing of the shipping situation
will do much to secure the betterment of their economic condi
tions .
337. 20 recruits, all Baluchis, were secured for the Muscat
Levies from the Gwadur area recently.

His Highness has accepted the services of Mr. Abdur
Rahman in place of Khan Bahadur Abdul Haiy as Administrator
for Gwadur. Mr. Abdur Rahman is expected to take charge of his
duties in December
