Koweit.—&\* Excellency Shaikh Salim has presented his steam launch
"Mishrif” to His Excellency Sir Kbazal Khan, G.C.I.E., Shaikh or
Mohammerah.
Mr. Cross arrived from Basrah on December 15 th on behalf of the
British India Steam Navigation Company, Limited, to enquire into
complaints from Korveit merchants regarding shortage of cargo, &c. After
interviewing a representative gathering of merchants he lett lor Busbire.
The village of Jahrah, which has been abandoned since the attack reported
in the October summary, was re-occupied early this month. Only a small
garrison is to be kept there for the protection of the village.
On December 26th Eaisal-ed-Dawish, with a force of Ikhwan attacked a
camp of Aiman and Eashaidah at Zaghiah, some 15 miles north-west of Jahrah,
and captured all their camels and sheep. The Ikhwan are reported to have
killed all men captured alive. Eaisal-ed-Dawaish’s son was severely wounded
and is said to have died. They left for the north having apparently stated that
they intended making Safwan a centre from which to raid. There have been
•ubsequent rumours of their raiding to the west of Zubair.
