Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Henry McMahon, G.C.V.O., K.G.I.E.,
C.S.I., Secretary to the Government of India in the Foreign
Department, Simla.
I have the honour to lay before Government a reference
from the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Muscat, on the subject of the
6th December 1912 ‘ 5 British Anniversaries
m honour of which His Highness the Sultan of Muscat should be
expected to fire a Royal Salute and pay a ceremonial visit.
2. Major unox’s letter sufficiently explains the local position
and subject to th© wishes of Government, 1 am of opinion, in
the^circumstances, that if His Highness fires a sal ute on His
Majesty the King’s Birthday and 1st Ja nuary , it is a B much as
we need require of him. The latter anniversary is not, as a
matter of fact, recognised internationally in Persian Ports.
