The rough sketch map shows the Ajer [Aker] inlet on the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , in the region of El Hasa [Al-Hasa, or Al-Aḥsāʾ, in what is now Saudi Arabia].

It includes brief descriptions of topography and water depth.

The map bears the printing statements ‘I.B. [Intelligence Branch] Topo. Dy. No. 1,847. Exd. C. J. A., February 1897.’, ‘(Sd.) J. A. D., 27-7-96.’ and the reference number ‘No. 1,178-I., 96.’
