30.12.15. Thursday . The devil,of a row with Bruggmun on account
of the carpet business ; he evidently wants to make a
profit for himself, and will cheat us, and the Bmpire.
31.12.15. Friday . The whole morning Prof. (Zugmeyer) inter
viewed Brucrgman, patched up the carpet business again in a
measure. V/e shall only get 20,000 Tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value. for remainder,
and he binds himself to pay us about the same amount after
the war. So we can move off with about 35,000 tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value. in
all.
1.1.16. Saturday . Agreement with Bruggimn at last conducted
through Professor; must pay 20,000 tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value. by the 20th, or
else a penalty of 5,000 Professor wants to give
me an advance of daily allowance for a few carpets. . . .
Will ride out tomorrow to take leave of the place, and will
ll pay a visit to Brandly in the afternoon with the Professor.
2.1.16. Sunday . At Brandly f s at 4 o/c. He, a jovial plain
old gentleman; she, a nice amiable woman; the nephew, a very
young modest youth, the niece, very shy; not exactly a
beauty. Hear that both ladies, disguised as Persian women,
had seen our first entry into Kerman.
4.1.16. Tuesday. Professor had interview with Bruggman, Biach
with Brandly. Everything made very difficult because both
have too little money. Prom Brandly we get 10,000 tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value.
to be remitted to Berlin, and 1,300 tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value. which some ass
had paid in for the O.G.M*
5.1.16. Wednesday . Before going to bed another long debate as to
what is to be done about the carpet business. Bruggman seems
to be turning out worse and worse.
