being kept “ for the payment of remise}/
to Mr. Brandly.”
On my enquiring from Sykes, his views as to Brandly’s behaviour during
our absence from Kerman, and as to his bona Jides now, he replied : —“ I did
not examine his case from (? lack of) time. So far as l can see unsatisfactory,
and I doubt whether he should return to Kerman.”
Consul at Kerman wires : —“ Brandly certainly should not be allowed to
return to Southern Persia until our position is absolutely secure. His private
sympathies are frankly with German Government.”
1 concur and request that steps may be taken to apprise “ Oriental
Carpet Manufacturers, Limited,” 4, Newgate Street, London, E.C., whose
agent he is, that Brandly will not be permitted to land in Persia until the
end of the war. The Company’s interests are adequately safeguarded by the
presence at Kerman of Wetli, als) a Swiss, but well disposed towards
