3rd April, 1930.
Sir,
I am directed by Mr.Secretary Henderson to transmit
to you the accompanying copy of a communication from
Messrs.Thomas Ashwell and Company, Hew York, requesting
information regarding certain states in Arabia, which has
been forwarded by the Colonial Office to this department.^
for disposal.
E. Mr.Henderson will be glad to be furnished with the
observations of the Secretary of State for India as to the
reply which should be returned to this letter, in so far as
concerns the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman, the Hadramaut
and Koweit. It occurs to Mr.Henderson that Messrs.Ashwell
and Company probably also desire information regarding
Bahrein, although that state is not included among those
mentioned in their letter; and he would accordingly suggest,
subject to Mr.Secretary Benn 1 s concurrence, that a reference
to Bahrein should be included in any reply that may eventually
be returned to the firm 1 s enquiry.
