190. Anglo-Persian OH Company .—
Reference paragraph 171. Another tank of
,^the Company at Abadan, containing 670,000
't>aJlons of oil, was completely burnt out on
the 22nd August. The tank was fully in
sured.
Bushire.
191. Obituary. —His Excellency Reza
Khan Atabegi (Viqar ul Mulk), Governor
of the Gulf Ports, died on the 17th after a
short illness. His duties are being carried
out by his Deputy, Muhammad Karim
Khan Wazari.
192. Religious. —The 5th was observed
by the Ulema, the officials and the populace
as a day of national mourning in connection
with the alleged bombardment of Medina
by the Wahabis. In accordance with in
structions from H. M'.s Minister, Tehran
flags were flown at half mast on all British
Consulates in South Persia.
193. Municipal. —Mirza Ahmad Khan
Shaukat, Revenue Officer, Borazjan, who
has been ordered by the Ministry of Einance
to look into the differences between the
Bushire Municipality and the Revenue
Administration, is endeavouring to transfer
the control of the Municipality and its
revenues to the hands of the Military. The
public are strongly opposed to the move.

194. Red Oxide. —The Persian Customs
launch “ Azarbaijan ” was sent in August
Bushire ;

last to Abu Musa Island to fetch samples of
red oxide. As the island belongs to the
Shaikh of Shargah and the Abu Musa
Oxide Concession was granted nearly three
years ago to Messrs. Frank C. Strick & Co.,
the necessary steps are being taken to
ascertain the source from which the order
issued with a view to protesting to the Per
sian Government.
Bandar Abbas.
195. Outlaws .—Ibrahim Khan, a notori
ous outlaw, was publicly executed on the
18th August.
Four highwaymen, suspected of having
committed the robbery reported in para
graph 93, were arrested and brought into
Bandar Abbas on the 25th August.
Mekran.
190. Charbar .—Charbar district is still in
a disturbed state and it is reported that Din
Mahomed and Durra Khan are raiding each
others territory. The merchants have
again complained that trade is paralysed
owing to the insecurity of the roads.
Many small traders are said to have shut
down and the larger ones are reported to be
feeling the strain. A general exodus from
Charbar is predicted if the present dis
turbances continue.
The telegraph line between Turbat and
Mand in British Mekran was cut on the
17th by raiders whose nationality is not
known. One of them was killed by the
Mekran Levy Corps.
