Movements.
128. British officials. —Reference para

returned to headquarters on the 21st.
Arab State official. —Captain B. Thomas,
O.B.E., Financial Adviser to the Govern
ment of Muscat and Oman, was the guest
of the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. at Bushire from
the 23rd to the 30th.
Health, Persian Ports.
129. The Health of the Persian ports is
good.
Opium.
130. 30 cases of opium, declared for
New York, were shipped by Messrs. Haji
Seyid Muhammad Reza Kazeruni and Sons
on the 21st by the Hansa steamship
Neidenfels.”
The S.S. “ Joh. Ludw. Mowinckel ”, flying
the Norwegian flag, owned by Olaf Orvig,
Bergen, Norway, and chartered by A.
Nemazee & Co., of Bombay, arrived at
Bushire on the 19th, with a cargo of rice
from Rangoon. She is still in port. En
deavour is being made to ascertain whether
she is engaged in the opium traffic.
S.S. “ Hanan ”, flying the Chinese flag,
arrived at Bushire on the 22nd, and is
loading opium. It is practically establish
ed beyond doubt that she is identical with
the S.S. “ Promethean ” referred to in para
graphs 204, 226 and 236 of 1924. Her
master gives his name as Mr. Corney.
German Interests.
131. S.S. “Neidenfels”, of the Hansa
Line, arrived from Bombay at Bandar
Abbas on the 10th and sailed for Bahrain
after discharging 6,050 bags of loaf sugar and
129 packages of general cargo.
Military.
132. Naib Ali Asghar Khan, Officer Com
manding, Persian garrison at Bandar Abbas
left on the 11th for Charbar. It is believed
that his visit is connected with the proposed
establishment of a small garrison at that
port.
Anglo-Persian Oil Company.
133. The Company closed down their
works at Ras Tarkun at the end of May and
have completely evacuated Kishm island.
Muhammerah
134. Taxation. —A Revenue Commission
from Ahwaz has visited Muhammerah and
fixed the tax on date trees and other pro
perty in the Muhammerah district.
The Military Governor-General of
Khuzistan has ordered Shaikh Abdulla (son
of the Shaikh of Muhammerah, and at pre
sent in charge of his interests), to collect sums
of T. £100 and Rs. 100 from each tribal head
man under him towards the cost of a mili
tary school at Muhammerah and a statue of \
the Prime Minister respectively.
135. Customs. —Reference paragraph 122.
The Iraq authorities maintain that the
seizure of the sheep took place in Iraq
territory, and His Excellency the High
Commissioner for Iraq has referred the
incident to His Britannic Majesty’s Minis
ter at Tehran with a request that a strong
protest be 1c dged against this seizure.
Bushire.
136. The Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. was invited
on the 20th to a gazelle shoot from me tc r
cars by the Governor of Bushire and the
Officer Commanding, Persian Troops.
The scene of the hunt was a plain some
20 miles north-east of Bushire. In the
afternoon, after the shoot, the whole party
proceeded to the country residence of Khan
Ali Khan, a Persian gentleman, in Maha-
madi village, some 6 miles further north.
This village is on the bank of the Rud
Hillah river, and on the arrival of the party
the bank was lined with villagers making a
peculiar call of welcome, rifles were fired by
men circling on horseback, and a large
number of sheep were beheaded.
Among the gentlemen who were present;

Khan, the hosts, gave the party a very good
Persian dinner.
The party returned to Bushire at about
7-30 p.m. after a somewhat tiresome drive
in motor*.nf 9R miles across fields and
ditches as theft$ roach.
