Majesty’s Government and that Mr.
Philbv had no authority to negotiate on
their behalf, was despatched on the 20th.
A third message for the Sultan, reply-

taken by British aeroplanes and armour
ed cars in the raid near Amman, was re
ceived on the 31st.
It has been reported from Basrah that
an emissary of Ibn Saud, named Ham-
dan, of the Reshayidah tribe, had
arrived at Zubair and demanded the
expulsion of a section of the A1 Raya-
him, a Nejd tribe who had settled in the
vicinity of Zubair prior to the war.
It has not been considered neces
sary to protest to the Sultan on the
subject.
