The file concerns the investigations of Dr Harald Blegvad, the Director of the Danish Biological Station, into the waters of the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , with particular reference to fishing. Blegvad was visiting the area on behalf of the Government of Iran, who wished to initiate commercial exploitation of Iranian fisheries.

The file includes correspondence from the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , the British Legation, Tehran, and extracts from intelligence reports.

The papers include: the need to protect Arab rights over pearl fishing banks; the legal position concerning prescriptive rights to exploit the seabed outside the three mile limit; the flying of the Iranian flag by Blegvad's vessel; and the establishment of a fish-canning plant near Bandar Abbas in 1940.

The French language content of the papers consists of a newspaper article on folio 24.
