The map accompanies a report by the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Muscat (Harold Dickson) of a conversation with Major Frank Holmes of Eastern and General Syndicate. The map shows the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. and some of Iraq with three parallel lines (red, black and blue) on which oil is to be found according to Holmes. Also marked are the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, and settlements (e.g. Qatif, Kuwait, Baghdad, Kirkuk).
