Subject Matter: The photograph shows a six-wheel flatbed truck, with four-wheel trailer attached, used by the California Arabian Standard Oil Company at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The truck is moving along a dirt or sand track, and is seen from the front, possibly from the rear window of another moving vehicle. The truck and trailer are not loaded. In addition to the driver, who cannot be seen inside the truck’s cab, there are at least seven men travelling on the truck, standing either on the footplates or truck bed. All those that can be seen are dressed in Western-style shirts and trousers. A grassy embankment, crowned with vegetation, can be seen on the far side of the track.

Dimensions: 128 mm x 177 mm
Condition: The photograph is generally in good condition. The left-hand edge of the image is discoloured, possibly as a result of overexposure to light, and there are some scratches and minor scuff marks running down the centre of the photograph.
Foliation: The photograph bears two numbers: a circled 59 and an uncircled 140. The folio number that should be used for referencing purposes is on the plastic sleeve in which the photograph is held (51)
