Copy of the letter Ho. 16/8242, dated 19th August^,
from the Manager, The Saetern Bank Ltd., Bombay, to the
Accountant General, Bombay.
In reply to your letter Ho.P.10-2280 of the 7th
instant, regarding balance of Rs.13-8-0 ( Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. thirteen
ana annas eight only) outstanding to the credit of Major
Bray, we beg to inform you that on the 31st December
1919, the balance to the credit of the said officer was
Rs.661-2-6 ( Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. six hundred and sixty one annas two and
pies six only) the sterling equivalent of which £76-12-0
plus cost of stamp one anna on the debit slip, was trans-
ferred to London on the 15th January 1920. After this
transler there is no outstanding balance whatsoever in our
3ooks to the credit of the said officer.
We shall therefore thank you also to inform Major
Bray to this effect.
Copy of letter -No.24980/D. 1/104, dated the 24th
September 1925, from the Accountant General, Baghdad, to
the Accountant General, Central Revenues.
Subject:- Settlement of claims of Major U.R.E.Bray
for sums of Rs.117/6/- and 280/-.
With reference to your letter No.T.A.326, dated 27th
June 1925, I have the honour to state that Major Bray’s
claims for the sums of Rs.117/6/- and Rs.280/- have been
admitted and credit for the sum of Rs.397/6/- (Three
hundred ninety seven and annas six only), has been afforded
to you in my account for the month of September 1925.
Please forward to me in due course officer’s receipt
for the amount.
As regards the cheque book and pass book, I regret to
state that none of these documents appear to have been
handed over to the office of the D.A.G. Civil, Baghdad,
which has been abolished since 1923. It is suggested that

This part contains correspondence regarding the visit of a Mission (deputation) consisting of ‘Abdullah bin ‘Īsá Āl Khalīfah, son of Shaikh Isa of Bahrein [Bahrain], Abdullah’s son Muhammad, Abdullah’s Private Secretary Jasim Cheravi, and a personal servant, to the United Kingdom and Paris in 1919.

It includes correspondence regarding arrangements for the visit, but most of the correspondence relates to expenditure on the visit, including: the question as to how far the Government Hospitality Fund accepts responsibility for the expenses connected with the visit, including the payment of an interpreter; and the adjustment of the account of Major Norman Napier Bray (Political Officer attached to the Bahrein Mission) in connection with the Bahrein Mission.
